Mother’s Hair Care
One thing that many mothers are not prepared for is the hair loss that follows childbirth. While it cannot be prevented completely, there are few hacks to make it better.
Drinking plenty of water is the first thing you should start with. This gives you and edge over strong and fast growing hair. Getting proper nutrition is another vital thing to help reduce the hair fall. For stronger hair, make sure you include enough iron, protein, Vitamin C, Omega and other Vitamins in your diet.
Minimize washing your hair. Shampoo your hair a maximum of 2 times a week. And after every shampoo session, use a hair conditioner. Minimizing shampooing keeps the hair as healthy as possible. Try to opt for hair products which do not contain parabens, sulfates, or dyes. Also, wearing your hair in a loose pony tail or bun can keep it protected and make it less prone to breakage.
Get a haircut after your pregnancy. Try getting a layering hairstyle to frame your face. It gives an impression of volume, so the hair loss problem looks less obvious. Hydrate your hair from time to time to keep damaged hair from straining any further. Moisturizing hair from time to time will help damaged hair to not worsen. Using natural oils which suit your hair type and deeply moisturize can make your hair healthier.
You can also start taking biotin supplement after consulting your doctor. Biotin is known for making hair and nails grow faster and stronger. Also, this is a good time to start multivitamin supplements. But before taking any kind of medicines be sure to consult with your doctor.
Avoid using any kind of heat on your hair. Applying heat on hair makes it brittle & dry. Let your hair air dry as much as you can. Avoid blow-drying or straightening or curling it.
Postpartum hair loss is just another consequence of having a baby. But luckily, it won’t be as noticeable if you take proper care of your hair for postpartum period.
