Winter is over and summer days are knocking at the door. You will sweat a lot, and have to drink a lot of fluids. Babies are especially vulnerable in summer as their immune system is not ready as that of an adult to cope with excessive temperature. In the summer heat, you have to keep your baby safe by dressing him/her properly. Here are some useful tips to help you keep your baby fresh and comfortable during summer days.

1) Choose soft and cotton clothes
First and foremost, you have to choose the clothes for your baby very carefully. Skin is one of the most sensitive parts of a baby. Especially during summer, when it’s very rash-prone. Using synthetic or polymer fabrics for your baby may cause skin rash and lead to skin disease. So, cotton or natural fabric clothes are ideal for summer days and humid conditions. Just remember to always keep an eye on your baby if he/she is sweating too much. In that case change the clothes quickly to avoid cold or flu. If you want to go outside with your baby during summer, always prepare extra sets of clothes. Try avoiding socks in summer as much as possible since these may make your baby feel uncomfortable.

2) Avoid tight clothes, ensure ventilation
Another important thing is ventilation during summer time. You have to ensure that the baby does not feel suffocated due to extra clothing. Since a baby doesn’t perspire effectively, she/he can become overheated far more quickly than an adult. That’s why you should never leave an infant in a hot room or a parked car. Even a few minutes of delay in a situation like this can prove fatal. Avoid tight clothes as much as possible and make sure air can pass through the fabric easily. Loose clothes reduce the chances of overheating.

3) Avoid dark colors
Not only for babies, this is a general suggestion for adults too during summer- Try to wear light colored clothes as much as possible and avoid dark colors during day time. As dark colors absorb heat more than light colors, babies may feel suffocated in dark colored dresses. You can choose dark colored dresses for babies while going out, but it’s generally advised to opt for lighter colors for your little one.

4) Cut off price tags and wash before use
When you buy new clothes for your baby, make sure that the price tags of the clothes are removed properly. Sometimes there are extra fabrics with the clothes. Infants have a tendency to absorb and swallow everything that they can grab. In that case, this extra fabric may become a choking hazard for them. Never use the new clothes before washing. You can only put new clothes on your babies after properly washing and then drying them in the sun.

5) Use hats and covers to shade your baby from sunshine
If you plan to carry your baby out in the sunshine, make sure their stroller is covered properly so that they don’t not face sunshine directly in their eyes. There are lots of fashionable hats for your babies. Use hats if babies have to be exposed to the sun.

6) Apply baby powder with care
During a hot summer night, applying some baby powder on the bed sheets before putting your baby to sleep is a good idea. Putting powder on the baby to keep them fresh is a conventional but effective way. But you have to make sure that you are using the right powder for your baby. Opt for Baby Powders that are made with safe ingredients for your baby. You can rely on Just for Baby powder for this purpose. When applying on the body, make sure that your baby doesn’t inhale the powder.
